Fashion: SARIS THAT CREATED A ROAR ON THE RAMP
If
there’s a piece of clothing that works like magic on every woman, it is
the eternally elegant sari. One of the oldest garments of India, the
sari can be both beautiful and sexy. We bet you’ve been awestruck every
time a girl has walked by in a sari, haven’t you? This year, we saw some
stunning saris make their impact on the runway at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015. Take a look at the ones that were our favourite.
Aartivijay GuptaThe suckers for
quirk that we are, we couldn’t stop hooting when models sashayed down
the ramp in Aartivijay Gupta’s vegetable and fruit print couture. But
the one that completely blew us over was this checkered sari with her
signature prints. Think you’re cool enough to flaunt a sari like this?
Save up for Aartivijay Gupta’s trendy garments now!
GaurangGaurang’s brides were the
kind we’d want to be—bold yet traditional. Here’s one of his saris that
had our attention. The rich colour paired with the full-sleeved blouse
spells royal while the veil on the head and the makeup create drama. But
if you ask us, it’s the elegance of the sari that truly does it for us.
Neeta LullaCan you imagine a
Bengali bride sans a red-and-white sari? Here it is—model Deepti Gujral
looking every bit the perfect Bong bride in her traditional sari with a
twist. Note how the puff sleeved blouse takes us back to the time of the
Tagore women who were known to be impeccably dressed in their saris
with puff blouses.
Nikhil ThampiAin’t no sari that
doesn’t scream sexy! Nikhil Thampi’s red hot sari mixed with metallic
details had us applauding in excitement. If you’re the kind who likes to
play it bold when it comes to your sartorial choices, a sari like this
is right up your alley.
Ritu KumarA white sari—there’s no
prettier sight than that! The queen of traditional couture, Ritu Kumar’s
collection had the perfect white net sari sighting. The silver cutwork
blouse and golden jewellery elevate the look further. Such a beauty!
Urvashi JonejaWho says
black-and-white saris are boring? Urvashi Joneja’s collection had a
gorgeous white sari with a black border worn over a chic full-sleeved
blouse. The cotton bow belt on the waist adds to the look. Gives off a
traditional yet modern vibe, doesn’t it?
