DIY#STYLIST#RIDHI MEHRA#ABOUT HER COLLECTION...

RIDHI MEHRA CHATS ABOUT HER MINIMAL YET OPULENT LFW COLLECTION

If we had to define her collection in one statement, it would be ‘Understated elegance.’ Designer Ridhi Mehra’s collection, ‘Prism’ that she presented at thisLakmé Fashion Week saw contemporary designs in gowns and dramatic separates, all made to suit the needs of the working woman’s wardrobe. Below, our tête-à-tête with the talented designer on her collection and some fantastic style advice for the upcoming season…
Q: What is the inspiration behind your collection and what role does geometry play in it?

Ridhi Mehra: If there’s anything the modern Indian woman needs, its functional pieces that stay true to her style while taking her chic quotient to a whole new level. I captured the multi-faceted personality of the woman of today and connected it to my collection ‘Prism’. Just like how the figure spreads its white light to disperse into rainbow colours, we women play a host of roles in our lives; whether it’s being a boss, mother or a wife.

Q: What do you have to say about the kind of detailing that has gone into the making of your collection?

RM: It’s a diverse collection of western and fusion wear and I’ve played around with different colour palettes such as teals, crimson red, mustard and silver. The details are a mix of both Indian as well as western. One can find tone-on-details, grading colour techniques, sequins and zardozi in silver on the cape jumpsuits.
Q: So when it comes to key pieces for the upcoming winter and festive season, what are the must-haves any woman should own?

RM: I think jumpsuits are going to be big this season. I strongly recommend cape jumpsuits and capes paired with ankle-length pants for optimum style and easy looks.
Q: And what is that one thing every woman should keep in mind before stepping out to shop for a winter wardrobe?

RM: Make sure you always pick clothes that are versatile and could be worn in several ways for any occasion. Remember, there’s no style without comfort and your dressing should reflect exactly that, comfy chic!
