DIY#FASHION#STYLE#5 WAYS TO ADD MILITARY EDGE TO YOUR WARDROBE

5 WAYS TO ADD MILITARY EDGE TO YOUR WARDROBE

With a focus on utilitarian style, military-inspired clothes and accessories are riding high on fashion’s radar this season. No, you don’t have to join the army or find yourself a uniform—channelling military khakis is simpler than that. Here are five ways to infuse some army-force into your closet.

A trench coat is the sharpest way to add some martial edge to your wardrobe. Historically often worn by high-ranking military officials, the garment has been made most famous by British fashion brand Burberry. But you will find brands offering options that are easier on the pocket. Stick to olive or brown colours, and experiment with details and fabrics for a fashion-forward look.

Trench coats are best left for travel or winters, but if you stay in a place with negligible winters (read: Mumbai) or have no appetite for December-travel, a sleeveless jacket or cool shrug will hold you in good stead. A laidback cotton hoody will see you through drizzles as well as days of mild winter.

Camouflage prints are haute, but somewhat tricky to carry off. The trick is to style them simply. A long, casual maxi dress in a dark print shouts out to the trend without looking like a uniform. If a head to toe look isn’t your thing, incorporate the design element via a trendy backpack.

A military green sheath dress is many things at once. Its colour and utilitarian detail is an instant reminder of the trend, and the sleek silhouette is utterly feminine. Add slim golden accessories to update the look from day to night.

Swap your usual black eyeliner with an intense dark green to flaunt army-inspired cat eyes. An easy look to carry all day, transition the look for evenings with an added dose of green eye-shadow and sheer pink lip gloss.
