FIND OUT THE RIGHT HAIR COLOR ACCORDING TO YOUR SKIN TONE..

LEARN HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT HAIR COLOUR FOR YOUR SKIN TONE

With a new season just around the corner, it’s about to amp up your style. And before you head to your wardrobe to wrangle out the latest in fashion, don’t miss getting your hair in on the action as well! When it’s time for the season to transition, so is it time for your hair. And what’s the easiest to do that? With a brand new colorful mane, of course!

Hair colour has evolved greatly through the years and today, it promises a whole new look without the danger of hair damage. But before you take the colourful plunge to find out the best hair colour for you, there’s a thing or two to remember before you get down to experimentation.

Find your skin tone

When you use the right shade of hair colour, it can change your appearance completely. The best way to find the right colour for your hair is by finding out your skin tone and the hair colour that blends well with it. Remember that your skin tone changes depending on the sun exposure and tan you have so here are 2 simple ways to figure out what your skin tone is.

T-shirt test

Firstly, remove all traces of makeup from your face and stand in front of a mirror. Make sure that there is a window or any other natural source of light in the room. Then hold a red or yellow t-shirt against your face followed by either a green or blue t-shirt. You’ll find a noticeable difference as to how your face looks against the colours. If your face looks better against the red or yellow t-shirt, you have a warm skin tone. If it looks better against the blue or green t-shirt, you have a cool skin tone.

Vein test
Stand under a natural source of light, like sunlight and observe the veins on the underside of your wrist. If your veins are green in colour, you have a warm skin tone. If your veins are blue in colour, you have a cool skin tone.

Warm skin tones

So once you’ve determined your skin tone, the enjoyable part is picking a hair colour for yourself. If you have a warm skin tone, you can choose a hair colour that falls in the family of earthy brown, auburn, deep red and violet. Mocha, pumpkin spice, plum and burgundy seem to be popular favourites. Subdued ombre or subtle lowlights can also bring out the warmth of your skin tone. We suggest using a special shampoo such as the TRESemme Color Revitalize Protection For Color Treated Hair to maintain the vibrancy of your colour.

Cool skin tones
Cool skin tones generally belong to those who have fair and rosy peach skin colours and the paler their skin is, the lighter they can go with their hair colour. If you have a cool skin tone, you can choose a hair colour that falls in the family of blond, caramel and copper. Pick your hair colour from that of butterscotch, honey, platinum and champagne from the shade card. Trendy pastel streaks or flaxen highlights will bring out the peachiness of your skin tone. To maintain your hair colour, add the BedHead by TIGI Dumb Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner to prevent brassiness and breakage.

NEW TREND IN FASHION-90's ERA CHOKERS ARE BACK..SEE HOW TO WEAR THEM

NEW FASHION TREND—CHOKER NECKLACE

You know what they say about trends—they never truly die! That’s because what was hot a few years ago will make a reappearance in the near future as a trending topic. We know that during the grunge era of the 90’s, donning Doc Martens, choker necklaces and butterfly clips were all the rage. While we haven’t heard the heavy footsteps of the Martens, choker necklaces are back with a bang!

Back in the day, choker necklaces were thought of as edgy and rebellious jewelry since they were a safe alternative to a neck tattoo. The quintessential intertwined necklace stretched snugly around the neck as the perfect accessory to clash with those risque low-necks. It’s 2016 and while chokers are back, they aren’t the same old rebels that we used to know.

The choker has found a more refined, chicer avatar as it moves beyond plastic. The necklace now spans across metallic forms, suede ties and pom-pom detailing. Trust Hollywood celebrities to sniff out a trend because everybody who is anybody like Gigi Hadid, Shay Mitchell, Miranda Kerr, Kendall Jenner and Hailey Baldwin have been spotted wearing one whether casually or on the red carpet. While slipping it on is an easy option, layering the choker necklace can spruce up even a formal look.

Want to join the elite fleet of choker donning stars? Here are a few tips on working it.
Decide the look you are going for and choose a choker based on that.
For a boho infused look, a suede piece with tassels should be your pick.
If it’s a dinner party, then a gold number with studded rhinestones will suit it best. Find the style of choker which matches your look best.
Alternatively, you can layer it in the midst of other necklaces of varying sizes. You can also choose your neck choker based on your outfit. On an intricate lace necklace, you can pair a minimal gold choker. For a low-cut satin blouse, a black choker piece will work it’s charm.

LATEST TREND NEON MAKEUP#HOW TO APPLY#STEP BY STEP

LATEST TREND NEON MAKEUP: Lime Green Eye Shadow

WRITTEN BY BY ROMA SINGH

Of all the shades and hues in the makeup world, we think green is the most underrated. Unlike reds and purples that fit seamlessly into your makeup routine, green always leaves us scratching our heads. The question of how to wear this vibrant, earthy hue without looking like a big weirdo is always top of mind. And, as if a deep green or emerald shade isn’t hard enough to work with, try throwing neon green into the mix! Well, we decided to face our fear head-on by trying a bright green eye shadow look, courtesy of makeup guru and YouTube star Alana Dawn. Take a look and see if this tutorial doesn’t make you a believer in the power of green!
Lime Green Eye Shadow Pinterest

Step 1: Using a black liquid eyeliner or marker, draw a thick, bold cat eye on the upper lash line.
Step 2: Smudge lime green eye shadow along the entire lower lash line (Dawn used “Freak” from the Urban Decay Electric palette). Make sure to buff out the shadow to give off a smoky look.
Step 3: Frame the lower corner of your cat eye wing with neon green liquid liner (like NYX Vivid Brights in 03 Vivid Escape).
Step 4: Finish off your lime green look by layering your go-to mascara on your top and bottom lashes!

2016 Hair Trends: What’s Hot & What’s Not?

2016 Hair Trends: What’s Hot & What’s Not?

BY ROMA SINGH

Today we’re talking about the hottest 2015 hair trends this fall is bringing us when it comes to hair colours. I’m plucking the latest hair styles and colors, straight from the runways and red carpets so that you can all look like stars in the season ahead.

Best shades for this fall
Freshly out of hair color ideas for this season? No problem, we’ll get that inspiration going, whether you’re into an all-over dye, subtle highlights or simply ombre. We’ll cover everything, from glossy chocolate brown Jourdan Dunn is currently flaunting, to chic honey highlights, property of Alexa Chunghair trends 2015hair trends 2015Let’s see the “right now” of hair colors:
Warm brown colors emerged as a pretty potent look this fall. That’s why we’re all witnessing the A-list crowd warming up deep browns and darkening their blonde. Cameron Diaz comes to mind as a perfect illustration. haircolor-trends-2015 (2)Rich auburn tones are a serious envy (anyone thinking of Emma Stone right now?), so are the blonde nailing celebs. Platinum shade that’s January Jones rocking around is simply to die for. hairstyles-trends-2015 (23)hair trends 2015If you’re in the mood for a little drama this fall, why not go a complete color change. Reese Witherspoon certainly pulled it off. She went from blonde to dark brown, and I loved it. If you’re going for an instant full look update, new hair hue is simply the perfect way to do it and get away with it. Just be careful and try to complement your eye color and skin tone with your new shade. hair trends 2015Bold colors have grown in popularity recently. Pioneers of these 2015 hair trends are certainly Nicole Richie and Chloe Norgaard. Their ‘dos are ever-changing, and I think they speak for themselves.
If you’re not completely sure which color is for you, you can always opt for a dye that’s semi-permanent, or go for an ombre look that’s a bit more subtle. Just print out the hair color of your favorite celebrity and head straight to your hairdresser. If you’re brave enough, you can try to do your hair dye yourself. I’ll admit first I wouldn’t muster the courage for this in a million years. nicole-blue-hair2hair colors 2015Let’s get specific! Let’s talk about the hair colors that seal the deal for us this season:
Red hair – It’s sought after very highly, especially with Emma Stone being the worldwide favorite girl crush and simply dominating with her luscious auburn locks. As seen on many Hollywood bombshells, red hair carries some serious sex appeal and elegance. Look atScarlet Johansson and her long layered haircut and tell me I’m wrong. So whether your coppery locks are natural, or you’re considering the “out of the bottle option”, you can look at our stunning celebs for a plethora of ideas. The secret of the red hair’s beauty, putting extraordinary and unusual tones aside, is how much the make-up and complexion affect the overall look. hairstyles-trends-2015
hristina Hendricks will keep her porcelain complexion tan-free and natural, with a slick of red lipstick to make her a wow-worthy sight. Isla Fisher will match her dark red hair with a warmer skin tone for the overall more sunned appearance. hair trends 2015hair trends 2015Brown hair – It’s a tempting choice to embrace the dark side seeing Emma Watson, Alexa Chung and Mila Kunis with their dark brown shades that are more than lust-worthy. Inspiration is abundant.
You can go for the deepest ebony or the warmest mocha, au naturel or dip dye, the most stunning dark brown shades are yours to explore. Emma Watson carries long, glossy locks in very chic updos for her red carpet events. Alexa Chung still rules when it come to brunette beadhead, and straight and shiny goes well with Mila Kunis. Short crops, glamorous undo or be achy waves are the styles to go for, depending on the occasion. hairstyles-trends-2015 (4)hairstyles-trends-2015 (16)hairstyles-trends-2015 (20)hair trends 2015hair trends 2015hair trends 2015hair trends 2015Blonde hair – Well, blonde hair is a 2015 hair trends favourite (who would’ve guessed, right?). There’s a bunch of ideas among our celebrities and models to go around. Light or dark blonde, all-out platinum, you name it. Ombre uplights are a strong trend right now, and they are here to stay. Especially with Nicole Richie and Jessica Alba modeling some warmer, honey blonde shades. Ombre lights are excellent for darker shades; they add texture and depth, simultaneously resulting in dark caramel shade, only without the issues with re-growth of the dark root. haircolor-trends-2015 (3)Natural blondes might want to take cues from models such as Jessica Hart or May Jagger. They should opt for a dirty blonde appearance with a bed head look to it. You’ll achieve this by weaving the softer highlights among the darker tones that look more natural. You should wear these long, loose and with a lot of treatment that will ensure the required freshness and glossiness of your blond hair. Platinum blonde is a “notice me” color as always. You could go for champagne-hued tresses like Carey Mulligan or with textured blonde crop like Jenifer Lawrence. Caramel blonde or ultra ash, I’m sure you’ll manage to find something among all those models and celebrities. hairstyles-trends-2015 (12)hairstyles-trends-2015 (21)hairstyles-trends-2015 (25)honey-blonde-platinum-hair-trend-2015hair trends 2015

Will you work mega-ruffles, embrace the 90s revival, or actually trial a princess tiara in the office? Introducing our new season fashion report, your guide to the hottest spring 2016 trends...

Slip On
Go on, ask us what SS16’s first key buy is? The slip dress is back and looking slinkier than ever – trimmed with scalloped lingerie lace at Celine, in 90s satin or see-thru chiffon at Saint Laurent, and layered over fine knits at Pucci. With underwear as outerwear as a lead concept, SS16 is looking pretty sexy already, we'd say.

Life’s A Picnic
...And in soft gingham dresses and loose blanket trousers, how could it not be? Victoria Beckham, Celine and Stella McCartney are all ordering us to check up before the season ahead, reinventing fashion’s favourite patterns in easy, breezy new silhouettes.

Vivid Colour
How many sweet and sour rainbow clashes can one designer work into a single look? The challenge was on as Christopher Kane, Gucci, Balmain and Dries Van Noten presented their Pantone hits in new graphic effects - think patchwork star-bursts from Kane and cool Trompe-l'œil at Gucci.

(Left and right: Christopher Kane and Gucci spring 2016 fashion shows)

Ruffles
SS16's big romance played out at Michael Kors, Miu Miu, Roberto Cavalli and more, as ruffles became a key detail trend. Quantity and quality were both important here – take your cue from Mary Katrantzou’s more minimal, structured tiers, or go all out in a shredded Marques Almeida number.

Graphic Stripes
The majority of designers showed some kind of super stripe, but our top marks go to Missoni, Roksanda and Prada, who experimented with chopped, curled and scattered lines. For SS16, the stripe is oh so right.

(Left to right: Prada, Dolce and Gabbana, Roksanda and Jonathan Saunders spring 2016 fashion shows)

Film Star Christian Dior’s soft focus led the dozens of tributes to sheer beauty, with almost half a collection dedicated to misty organzas and foamy chiffons. The trick to working this dreamy trend will be in the layering, building up opacity for a look that’s suitable for real life.

Mirror Me

High shine fabrics are always a spring/summer favourite, but for SS16 the incarnations are cooler and more experimental than ever before. JW Anderson embellished classic sweaters with broken mirror pieces, while Louis Vuitton went future-perfect with their ruched foil minidresses.

(Left to right: Loewe, Isabel Marant and Louis Vuitton spring 2016 fashion shows)

The 90s
From Saint Laurent to Vetments, the 1990s fashion scene was the most popular decade to mine for inspiration at the SS16 shows. Channel your inner Kate Moss by teaming your slip with wellies and an oversized jacket as at Saint Laurent, or take some sporty street styling tips from the Alexander Wang show. Even the tracksuit made a seriously chic comeback, with Edie Campbell modelling Chloe’s new velour number. We never thought we’d see the day.

The Backpack
The humble gap year rucksack has been given a haute makeover thanks to Burberry, who embroidered each model’s initials into their canvas and nylon wares. Elsewhere, Alexander Wang and Phillip Lim luxed up the traditional shape, while Rick Owens used, um, other humans in his demonstration of piggy backs.

Tiara Time
Move over Duchess Kate, the tiara’s taken on a cool new runway-ready guise. No look at Saint Laurent or Miu Miu was complete without its crowning glory. Maybe an ornate headband would be a more office-appropriate nod to the trend, but come festival season, we’ll all be finding our inner urban princess.

All These Little Things
It's time to flaunt every jewel in your box. Let the layering commence, as Gucci declares that more is more when it comes to accessorising for the spring 2016 fashion season. The berets, the brooches, the Deirdre Barlow specs... pile them high and get yourself down to Abigail's Party, stat.

In Chains
The classic chunky chain gets a cool-over for spring, re-imagined in wavy chokers at JW Anderson, or scrunched into heavy clutch handles at Marni.

Graphic Bags

Leather stripes and bold prints ruled at Dolce and Gabbana, Stella McCartney and more, while Kenzo took the trend even more literally, showing clusters of basic shape pouches in a single look.

Extra Long Earrings
Shoulder-grazing lengths are the objects to desire, preferably in a mismatched pair a la Celine or JW Anderson. This is one of the easiest style updates to try at home for the new season - simply buy two new pairs of earrings to clash, or cherry-pick old favourites from your existing jewellery box.

Get yourself a new pair of cool mules, pronto. Acne's woven checkerboards and Balenciaga's cream lace slides are some of the hottest flats of the season, and super-comfortable to boot. Let's thank our lucky fashion stars in advance for that one, shall we?

Vivid Colour
How many sweet and sour rainbow clashes can one designer work into a single look? The challenge was on as Christopher Kane, Gucci, Balmain and Dries Van Noten presented their Pantone hits in new graphic effects - think patchwork star-bursts from Kane and cool Trompe-l'œil at Gucci.

THE LATEST FASHION TRENDS FOR 2016
BY ROMA SINGH
You can find the latest trend report for fall and winter 2015 here.
Spring is almost here so high time for our seasonly trends report!
Get ready for a relaxed 70s vibe with soft flowery fabrics, suede and mildly swirling pants. Or go the complete opposite direction with more tailored looks that embrace the waist or play with asymmetrical lines.
There is something for everyone this spring. Here are some of the best and most wearable trends for women over 40 to embrace this season!

1. Bring on the blues

BLUES
Blue is making a comeback. There was plenty of denim but blue was also present in flowing dresses, skirts and jackets. The blue trend was a very noticeable streetstyle trend during the recent fashion weeks. I would not say it replaces black (since black and white was very strong as usual) but blue will be a great alternative for black this season. It is usually a much better color to wear for most women than the harsher black. Check out this article for blues inspiration.

2. Be squared

squares
Gingham was particularly strong but designers have been very creative in creating all kinds of other squared looks. Who knew that they look so good with flowers as well?

3. 70s vibe

BOHEMIANCHIC
The 70s were a big theme for spring. Lots of bohemian chic looks featuring flowery patterns, fringes and tassels, bell sleeves and flared trousers.

4. The fluid fit

fluidfit
Those who like comfort will love the fluid fit trend. Clothes are not oversized but are bigger than tailored looks. So don’t be afraid to add a little slouch to your tops, pants and dresses! Be mindful of creating a good overall silhouette though.

5. Midi skirts

MIDISKIRTS
Not everyone’s favorite trend but skirts were mostly long on the runway. Midi skirts can work really well so long as you pay attention to proportion. Often you will want a higher fitted top with this look. It also works well if you opt for an asymmetrical hemline.

6. Big bold florals

BOLDFLOWERS
Bold prints make a statement and they are especially good for hot summer nights. I love wearing (bolder) prints on skirts. You still get the fabulous print without overwhelming you too much since you can combine it with a plain white shirt on top.

7. Belted!

BELTED
Belts were used to give the more fluid clothes more structure and a waist definition. Karate and obi belts were used but also simple rope type belts.

8. Shirt dresses

shirtdressesspring2015trend
Shirt dresses are both casual and chic and since many come with sleeves, will be so easy to wear!

9. All over white

ALLOVERWHITE
Not for everyone, but I love the all-over white look. It feels so fresh and modern to me. You don’t have to stick to the same color white either. Feel free to play with combinations of cream and off white and have fun layering!

10. Asymmetry and vertical lines

asymmetry
Asymmetry is still strong and I have included it in this lineup again since I feel it’s such a flattering look for women over 40. It creates great vertical lines and adds more interest to an outfit.

11. Wide cropped pants

croppedpants
Another trend where creating the right balance within your outfit is of utmost importance. That often means shorter jackets and tops or combine with a long vest as shown at the top left.

12. Flats!

flatshoetrendspring2015
Many of you will be happy to know that flat shoes are making a comeback as many designers showed them on the runway. Other shoe trends include gladiators, solid block heels, mules, and booties continue to be strong too.

Other trends include:

  • All-over denim
  • Polo style shirts
  • Green military jackets
  • Sporty luxe
  • Black and white
  • Stripes
  • Wearing skirts over pants.
As you can see, there is something for everyone this year. The key is to pick those trends that speak to you and mix them with your own unique style.
I always think it’s a good idea to get at least a few trendy items each season, as it keeps your style current, young and fresh. One or two items can already add a new spark to your closet.
I will revisit most of these trends in the coming months to show you how to wear them and what to buy.
