MY SECRET TO GET LUSTROUS AND FLAWLESS SKIN

HOW  TO GET  LUSTROUS LOCKS AND FLAWLESS SKIN

When people mention any health problem or come to me for advice, I naturally dole out remedies that originate in the kitchen! A friend going for a trek to Ladakh was sharing his fears of facing the biting cold of -30º C recently and instead of mentioning the obvious solution such as buying insulated thermal wear, I advised him to carry a bottle of rum and dried fruits! Well, that’s me—I might sound like a grandma but sometimes, going back to the basics just seems like the best idea. Curious to know what other kitchen products I swear by for my skin and hair? Read on…

Bye, bye blackheads

Mix a small amount of a very mild toothpaste and sea salt and apply on the affected areas. Leave the paste on for exactly five minutes and then wash it off. Be prepared to be stunned with the smoothest, glowing skin you’ve ever had. Trust me on this one!

Why it’s good for you: Toothpaste works wonders on acne and blemished skin since it contains baking soda, menthol as well as hydrogen peroxide. Moreover, toothpaste is also an anti-bacterial agent—a blessing for acne prone skin. Sea salt contains magnesium, which has the power to prevent fluid retention from your skin and helps in keeping it soft and supple. Together these two make for the perfect recipe for beautiful skin!

Goddess Glow

Olive oil, sugar and lemons may soon shift residence from your pantry to the bathroom cabinet once you try this. All you have to do is mix the oil, sugar and lemon juice together. After soaping, I rub in this concoction on my skin, head to toe and then rinse off. Sounds too simple to be extraordinary, but it works and how! Girls, be ready to embrace soft, gorgeous, glowing skin with this route!

Why it’s good for you: When olive oil, sugar and lemon juice are mixed, it becomes a powerful exfoliant for the skin. This means your skin will get rid of all the dead cells and bacteria. Moreover, sugar and olive oil both have hydrating properties while lemon has bleaching properties that will help you regain your natural complexion.

Lustrous locks

Blitz together a ripe banana, some yogurt and honey in a blender. Here’s the twist—don’t drink it; instead just apply to your hair from the roots to tips, section by section. I usually leave this on for at least 15 minutes, and then pop in for a shower and rinse it off. Follow it up with your general shampoo and conditioner routine. Tames even the roughest of hair!

Why it’s good for you: Bananas contain vitamins and minerals that are known to moisturise the scalp. It also contains iron, which has the power to strengthen the roots of your hair. Moreover, both yoghurt and honey are natural conditioners that will leave your hair shiny and soft. Happy hair, here we come!
