THE BEST 5 TIPS TO LOOK STYLISH AFTER MARRIAGE AT HOME OR OUTSIDE
BY ROMA SINGH
Brides put in a lot of thought into what they will be wearing for the various wedding ceremonies. But not many of them are far sighted enough to plan their post marriage wardrobe. What are you going to wear everyday at home? How can you balance western with ethnic wear to please your in-laws and yet not look like the proverbial ‘aunty’. Let us have a look at a few interesting ideas.
Jackets
Want to wear your favourite sleeveless blouse but not sure whether your in-laws will like it or not? Then why not throw on a shrug or a jacket?
Wear your favourite top and jeans and cover it up with a long jacket. Once you step out of the house with your hubby, you can remove the jacket and flaunt your pretty clothes. This way you ensure that your in-laws are happy and you get to have your own way too.
Silk jackets with delicate embroidery look great when paired with ethnic wear. For your western wear, invest in some nice shrugs and jackets in darker colours. They will go with almost every dress.
Tunics
Do you want to look sexy for your romantic date with your hubby but not take on your mom in-law's wrath? Then dress up in a knee length tunic and leggings. Ditch the leggings the minute you step out of the house and surprise your husband a little. Sheer stockings too look great and you must invest in a good pair for yourself.
Stoles
Do your in-laws insist on you wearing a dupatta at home? Then why not brighten up your wardrobe with some vibrant coloured stoles? You can tie up your stole in different ways and look fashionable even at home. A multi-coloured stole looks amazing with a plain white kurti and blue jeans. Similarly, a black coloured stole can be paired with nearly all kurtis. A stole can also cover up your bare shoulders if you are wearing noodle straps.
Skirts
Full-length cotton skirts paired with a collared short kurti will be ideal for a lazy Sunday. It will not be too casual or too dressy if some friends or relatives decide to drop in unexpectedly. Skirts also let you breathe freely and move with ease, while looking stylish yet all covered-up.
Kurtis
If you do not fancy wearing salwar kameez daily, then buy some beautiful kurtisin different styles. A Chinese collar kurti, a kurti with flair, an empire line kurti or a short kurti are one of the many options available for you. Pair them up with leggings, jeggings or even fitted pants. Accessorise them with a kada, earrings and cocktail rings.
Getting married does not mean that you need to sacrifice your fashion choices and give-up your stylish must-haves! All you need to do is be a little smart and carry it all well.
